In the world we live in, we are surrounded by toxins and other substances harmful to our health and wellbeing. If we want to reach our highest potential, we need to learn how to remove these toxins.

During my MSc studies in Environmental Engineering, I studied environmental toxins in detail. They can enter our bodies through our food, water (that which we wash in as well as drink directly), the air we breathe, the clothes we wear, the washing substances we use for our clothes and house as well for our bodies, even our deodorant!

This is a huge topic, but a vitally important one.

While our body is naturally equipped to process and remove toxins, it is not adapted to the extremely high level of toxicity we are exposed to in the modern world. The last few decades have seen a huge increase in the concentrations and range of toxins surrounding us on a daily basis, especially for those of us living in cities. With this increase in exposure, these toxins start to accumulate in the body as we are exposed to more than our natural systems can handle at once.

These toxins can cause serious chronic diseases, interfere with the proper functioning of our bodies and even our minds. More esoterically, they also block and disrupt the flow of subtle energy in the body, which leads to a lower frequency of consciousness.1

I will likely write several articles on this important topic, but today I want to share with you a simple and relaxing but extremely powerful way that you can use to start cleaning out your body to remove these toxins.

Mud and clay has been used since time immemorial across all continents to aid detoxification. Nowadays, those of us with a bath at home are able to make us of this age-old treatment combined with recent advances in science to help restore our bodies to their pristine state of health.

The classification of a mud as clay simply refers to the size of the particles present in the mud. The tiny size of the particles in clay give it a high surface area, making it more efficient at adsorbing.

Bentonite clay, sodium bentonite, excels at drawing out toxic substances like heavy metals from our bodies via the skin. If we take a warm bath in water with this clay, the skin’s pores open and act as a pathway for these toxins to leave our body. Various toxins are naturally attracted to the negative ions present on the surface of the tiny clay particles. After leaving our body, these toxins then attach to the clay which can then be rinsing off our bodies and down the drain.

To further increase the efficiency and effect of this detoxification, I highly recommend that you synchronize the timing of it with the phases of the Moon. While this may sound strange to some, detoxifying at certain times has been shown to be more effective. This topic is covered in this article. You should carry out detoxification during the waning phase of the Moon, which is the two week period between full and new moon.

In terms of which product to use, I recommend Triple Blend Healing Clay taken internally or French Green Clay baths.

It is recommended that anyone with a heart condition, high blood pressure, pregnant/breastfeeding women, and anyone taking prescription medications or any medical situation, should postpone the bath and check with your doctor or certified therapist. It may be acceptable to take a clay ‘pack’ instead of the bath or a clay ‘foot bath’, they work more slowly and gently.2

Please also read the instructions on the clay before using. It is important to hydrate your body well after any detoxification.
